Expressions of interest (EOIs) are officially open for the 2026 Community Building Partnership (CBP) grants program, with more than $41 million available to transform local community infrastructure.

The CBP program funds practical improvements to the places that bring communities together, including sporting grounds, community halls and other shared spaces.

Not-for-profit community organisations and local councils are invited to complete an EOI for grants from $10,000 to bring their local projects to life.

Since 2009, the CBP program has awarded more than $505 million to over 22,400 community projects across NSW.

In recent years the funding in the Blue Mountains has gone to a range of projects from a new safety handrail and a scoreboard for the Hazelbrook Bowling Club, new backboards for the Springwood Basketball Club, lighting for the Blue Mountains Musical Society, a new food van for Winmalee Neighbourhood Centre and murals, air conditioning and solar panels at local schools, to name just a few.

Electoral district priorities are nominated by the local Members of Parliament to reflect the needs of their communities.

Member for the Blue Mountains, Trish Doyle said:

“It’s great to see this grassroots funding supporting local projects that make a real difference in the Blue Mountains electorate.

“This is a great opportunity for interested organisations to get help with really practical improvements.

“There is an enormous bucket of $450,000 in grant funding available in each electorate, including the Blue Mountains. I really encourage Mountains’ groups to investigate this funding stream and apply. The CBP program invests in the places that help communities feel like home.”

For the first time, the 2026 CBP grants round will use a two-stage application process, beginning with an expression of interest.

Applications will be assessed against electoral district-specific priorities to help ensure funding is directed to community-interest projects that deliver the greatest local benefit.

More information on the local priorities for each electorate can be found in the grant guidelines and on the CBP program webpage. Interested organisations and councils are encouraged to apply before EOIs close at 5pm on Friday, 8 May.

Shortlisted EOIs will be contacted by the end of June 2026, with successful grants to be awarded in early 2027. For more information view the CBP website.
