Ms TRISH DOYLE (Blue Mountains): I congratulate members of the Shine Choir. Formed in 2012, Shine brings together a diverse range of singers, some with previous singing experience and others who are just discovering their talents. They perform whenever and wherever they have the opportunity to do so. Under the leadership of Nicole Giezekamp-Bakija—a trained opera singer—Shine is heading for New York to perform in the Lincoln Center for Performing Arts as part of the Distinguished Concerts International New York [DCINY]. Taking Shine to New York is no easy feat. With crowd funding helping to realise the choir members dream, they have garnered support from all corners of our Blue Mountains community and beyond. Their passion and commitment shines through the many hours of practice. I acknowledge Nikki for her tireless efforts over the past three years. Without her vision and energy New York would remain a dream. I also acknowledge the choir members for their many hours of hard work, including my friends Roger Grealy and Angelique Henson. Shine Choir is doing the Blue Mountains City of the Arts proud.
