I am pleased to recognise Ms Ann Caro on being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2026 Australia Day Honours. Throughout her many years as an educator in our public education system, Ann has shaped the lives of countless young people across my community. Her commitment has always extended well beyond the classroom, as a strong and consistent advocate for equity, inclusion and opportunity for every student. As a former educator myself, I know how demanding this work can be, particularly when supporting students facing disadvantage. Ann's dedication, compassion and persistence have made a lasting difference, and she continues to inspire both students and colleagues. On behalf of the Blue Mountains community, I thank Ann for her extraordinary service and warmly congratulate her on this well‑deserved honour.
