In celebrating its eightieth birthday and the annual changeover, the fabulous and committed folk of the Katoomba Rotary Club held a Murder Mystery event last weekend.
The venue was the gorgeous ballroom at the Grand Hydro Majestic Hotel in Medlow Bath in our magical wintry Blue Mountains.
Many locals and visitors came dressed avant-garde, taking us back to 1937 when it all began.
I pay my respects and recognise today a few of the incredible people who make Katoomba Rotary what it is: outgoing President Dr David Arnott, incoming President Maralyn Arnott, Frank Norman, Peter Poulos, Phil Hammon, Dr Aman Rana, and Amanda Foxon-Hill.
On the night, the master of ceremonies, Malcolm, welcomed District Governor Bruce Lakin and his delightful wife, Bette; Area Governor David Hart and Joan Hart; and the many Rotary clubs and their members from across the Blue Mountains.
Entertainment was provided by Nikki Bakija‑Giezekamp.
There were Murder Mystery shenanigans.
Kate Woolfe performed, dancing grooves to music by the Big Bad Swing Band, which was organised by Chris Cannell.
Funds raised throughout the night were for the Blue Mountains Cancer Wellness Support group, ably led by its incredible chief executive officer, Robyn Yates, OAM.
